GENIUS-5

OVERVIEW

The GENIUS-5 is a browser-based polyphonic synthesizer inspired by the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, recreating the iconic sound from Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love". Features include dual-oscillator synthesis, resonant filtering, stereo chorus, an 8-pattern rhythm computer with drum machine and bass sequencer, and 6 preset patches.

SYNTHESIS ENGINE

OSCILLATORS: Two sawtooth oscillators per voice with adjustable detuning and mix
FILTER: Resonant low-pass filter (100-5000 Hz) with envelope modulation
ENVELOPE: Independent decay and release controls
EFFECTS: Stereo chorus with 5ms delay and 2Hz LFO

6 preset patches available via keys Z through N:
Z main - Genius of Love sound (warm, detuned)
X brass - Bright, punchy brass (high resonance)
C pad - Warm pad (low cutoff, long release, max chorus)
V lead - Cutting lead (very high cutoff)
B pluck - Percussive pluck (tight envelope)
N bass - Deep bass (single osc, tight filter)

RHYTHM COMPUTER

DRUM MACHINE: 16-step sequencer with 5 sounds (Arp, Click, Snare, Tom Hi, Tom Lo)
BASS SEQUENCER: 16/32-step sequencer with 12-note range
LEGATO MODE: Hold SHIFT while clicking for smooth portamento slides
WIDE MODE: Toggle for 32-step bass patterns (buttons half-width)
PATTERN BANKS: 8 banks store complete drum + bass patterns

MIXER: Independent volume controls for drums and bass sequencer
MIDI SUPPORT: Full keyboard input with sustain pedal, pitch bend (±2 semitones), modulation wheel, and CC encoder control (M-Audio Axiom 25)
TEMPO: 30-180 BPM range
BASS PATCH: Select independent patch for bass sequencer
